{"id":11299,"title":"After thoughts","description":"Thoughts about where this will go, and where I will go.","content":"<p>The store has been open for about a week now, and I've had a good bit of fun coming up with ideas for what to do with them, I've also been thinking a lot about what I wanted to add here to give more than just the shirts. One of the biggest things that drove me to wanting to make this was what I think of the world as a whole in terms of sustainability.  I would often get so wrapped up in the negative things happening, for example the giant fires that happened in Australia last year, or the clearing of parts of the Amazon for pastures and plantations. I would be stressing about them all the time even while knowing there is nothing I can personally do about it. But I decided instead to shift my focus away and look at where we're making great progress. All across the world people are doing things to make a change in their own country. From Burkina Faso working to fight desertification with the help of Ecosia, to Jadav Payeng of India who has spend his life reforesting land. We aren't there yet, but there are countless people in every country on earth that are trying to push us towards that goal. I was luck enough that I was able to take the family hiking this last Saturday, and while the water from the creek was still pretty cold, the amazement the kids had from the trees, rocks, and all the sound around us was enough to make even the short walk completely worth it. I'm hoping that as this gets bigger I can expand past just donating to reforestation, but also towards programs that help get kids out to nature that may have never experienced it before. To help build a love for the outdoors that they might never have found before.
